Alex Pereira previously revealed his reason for taking a break
Alex Pereira has had an incredible run in 2024, and while there was speculation he could return at UFC 310, he will remain inactive for the remainder of the year. 'Poatan' previously revealed that he will likely wait until March 2025 to compete. Speaking to Ariel Helwani on his self-titled show via his translator and coach Plinio Cruz, the light heavyweight champion stated:
"Ideally, he would fight around June, it would be ideal, but he would maybe like to fight around March, even. But honestly, say, if it were up to him, he'll fight in December right now.
"The problem is these two fights happened too soon and we had a lot of appearances, a lot of trips, a lot of business to do and we had to push them for after these two fights because they were scheduled for before. The guys who organized it understood, but we have some obligations to do, so he feels that around March is a good date."
Check out Pereira's comments on when he plans to return to the octagon below (17:05):
Pereira noted that he does not have an opponent in mind for his next bout, claiming that the organization believes Magomed Ankalaev is 'boring.' A bout between the two now seems inevitable, however, after the No.1-ranked light heavyweight defeated Aleksandar Rakic via unanimous decision at UFC 308.
