Notably, Fighting Nerds earned MMA Junkie's 2024 Gym of the Year award. It has some fascinating competitors such as Carlos Prates, Jean Silva, and Mauricio Ruffy, as well as Borralho, all of whom went undefeated last year and emerged as top contenders in their respective division. The gym is known for its signature black-framed glasses, which are worn by fighters, coaches, and even cornermen. The black-framed Fighting Nerds spectacles were also worn by UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, Elon Musk, and Joe Rogan in the past.
Speaking of Borralho, he is 7-0 in the promotion and is currently ranked 6th in the middleweight division. In his recent octagon outing at UFC Vegas 96, the Brazilian secured an unanimous decision victory against Jared Cannonier.
Meanwhile, Pereira knocked out Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307, successfully defending his light heavyweight title for the third time in 2024.
Jan Blachowicz believes Jon Jones is eyeing for a matchup with Alex Pereira
Jon Jones has repeatedly disregarded interim champion Tom Aspinall and expressed his desire for a superfight with Alex Pereira. In addition, Pereira has hinted at a fight with Jones in his quest to become a three-division champion.
In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, former champion Jan Blachowicz claimed that Jones might be inclined to face Pereira rather than Aspinall, saying:
''I think Jones believes he can fight against Pereira, take him down, control him, maybe something like this. With Aspinall, it would be not so easy. [Jones might want] to fight against Pereira, not lose and maybe finish the career. I don't know. You need to ask him, not me!"
