The clinical KO artist elaborated that he trained extremely hard for the upcoming fight and is confident in his ability to get the job done even in the later rounds:

"I trained even harder for this fight, so we’ll see how things go on Saturday. I believe that I can get the job done even in the later rounds. I’m looking forward to the fourth or fifth round. And I’m looking forward to a main event fight, this fight... Sh*t I kind of hope it lasts few seconds [he joked]. But if it goes five rounds, I’m fine."

Apart from a select few occasions, most of Lewis' UFC wins have come via knockout in the early rounds. In fact, Lewis has never gone the whole five rounds in his mixed martial arts career.

The longest Derrick Lewis has spent in the octagon was during his fourth-round TKO loss to Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night 110. 'The Black Beast' also holds a fourth-round TKO win over Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC Fight Night 102.

After delivering a near-perfect performance until the dying seconds of round three, the Russian was KO'd with a vicious overhand right and ground strikes by Lewis at the 4:49 mark of the final round.
