Since debuting in the UFC in 2011, the Louisiana native fought his way through the featherweight and lightweight divisions, fighting twice for the lightweight title. Dustin Poirier was a long-time client of well-known nutritionist George Lockhart, a former marine and MMA fighter himself. 'The Diamond' ensures he has all-natural food that allows him to have all nutrients like protein, carbs, and healthy fats.

A day of dieting for Dustin Poirier during fight camp is as follows (via Celebrity Workout & Diet):

Breakfast or snack:

  • 2.5 fluid ounces of low-fat kefir
  • 0.5 ounce or medium-sized banana
  • 1/2 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1.5 ounces of oatmeal

Total: 119 calories, 18 grams of protein, 63 grams of carbs

Lunch:

  • 21.4 ounces of water
  • 2.5 ounces of ground turkey breast (no skin)
  • 4.5 egg whites
  • 2.5 cups of spinach
  • 9.5 ounces of pineapple
  • 0.5 ounces olive oil

Total: 475 calories, 42 grams of protein, 27 grams of carbs

Snack 2:

  • 21 ounces of water
  • 2.5 ounces of low-fat plain Greek yogurt

Snack 3:

Poirier is now scheduled to fight for the belt for the third time at UFC 302, challenging Islam Makhachev for the UFC lightweight throne. He has teased a potential retirement after the bout, regardless of the outcome. UFC 302 transpires inside the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on June 1.
