Jon Jones will defend his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, with interim champion Tom Aspinall set to be in attendance at Madison Square Garden (MSG) as the fight goes down. The consensus among fans is that Aspinall should be facing Jones at MSG on Nov. 16, and not Miocic - something the UFC heavyweight champion has received a lot of criticism for in the recent past.
The two-division champion has made it clear he has no interest in facing the Mancunian in an heavyweight title-unification fight, which has prompted several MMA reporters to quiz Jones on the reasoning behind his decision.
During a recent video uploaded to YouTube by TNT Sports, the 38-year old was captured opting-out of doing an interview with British sports journalist Adam Catterall. A clip of the exchange was uploaded to X by @acdmma_, where Jones could be heard saying:
"Hey, I'm not going to do this interview. You know, because it's going to be an Aspinall-fest. I'm not doing it, come on let's go."

The New York native's decision did not sit well with fans, who had already become frustrated with 'Bones' for his decision to deny Aspinall a title unification bout.
One user replied to the post, saying:
"What a f**king p**sy. I liked Jones because of the evil persona he had this guy is a g** b*tch."
Another added:
"Makes me said to see our GOAT intimidated by Aspinall"
Users appeared to be in agreement, with another stating:
"Jones has turned into a cry baby"

Jon Jones labels Tom Aspinall an "assh**e" and says its the reason they won't fight
Tom Aspinall has shared several online callouts of Jon Jones since becoming interim champion at UFC 295. But the heavyweight champion has refused to accept the fight, which has caused frustration for both Aspinall, as well as MMA fans in general.
'Bones' has been adamant that the Mancunian's relative lack of achievements in MMA was the reason he did not want to fight the interim title holder. But, during the media day ahead of UFC 309, the 38-year shared an entirely different reason.
Jones was asked if any part of the "competititor" in him was attracted to fighting Aspinall, and he said this:
"If I'm being completely honest, I feel like Tom's been such an a**hole that I don't want to do business with him. His fans have been so annoying, and obviously you don't get this far in a career being affected by fans. But he is just an a**hole... If you had a little bit more respect, then maybe we could have worked something out."
