Actor Jonah Hill, who starred in movies such as Superbad, Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street, is a white belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and received his first stripe under second-degree black belt Mikal Abdullah.
The Knocked Up actor started training in jiu-jitsu in late 2018, meaning Hill has been training for more than three years now.

The actor recalled getting beaten up by high-school bullies who trained in the famed grappling martial art. The 38-year-old actor stated the following in a now-deleted Instagram post:
“In high school the dudes who did Jiu Jitsu used to beat the s**t out of us at parties so it turned me off to it as an idea growing up. But quietly I always thought it was a beautiful art form. At 35, I try and get over the stuff that made me feel weak and insecure as a teenager. It’s just wasted time and lessons you’ll never learn. Trying to let go of that.” (h/t Aces Jiu Jitsu Club)
Jonah Hill has been open about his struggles with mental health and has credited his jiu-jitsu training as a means of getting healthier. According to an article by Marca, Jonah Hill deleted his Instagram after giving out a statement in which he got candid about his 20-year battle with anxiety attacks.
Hill's latest venture is his documentary film titled Stutz, which he directed and starred in. The documentary is a conversation between Hill and world-renowned therapist Phil Stutz, who takes Hill through visualization exercises called 'The Tools', and shares how to apply them to pursue 'active love'.
The film had a limited release in the US on November 4 and was released on Netflix on November 14.

Tom Hardy, a blue belt in jiu-jitsu is a serious practitioner of the sport who has competed in and won several tournaments. Hardy won gold at the UMAC Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open Championships in September 2022.
Guy Ritchie is one of the most famous jiu-jitsu practitioners in Hollywood. The Snatch director holds a black belt under the legendary Renzo Gracie.
Not just jit-jitsu, but Ritchie also holds a black belt in Shotokan karate and judo.
Another notable star who trains in the sport is That 70s Show star Ashton Kutcher, who holds a brown belt under 8th-degree red and black belt, Rigan Machado.
The actor started training in 2012 and received his brown belt in just seven years, to the surprise of many.
Ed O'Neil of Modern Family fame is a black-belt under the legendary Rorion Gracie. The veteran actor received his black belt after 22 years of training in the martial art.
