Former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion ‘The General’ Jonathan Haggerty figured in two epic wars with reigning divisional king Rodtang ‘The Iron Man’ Jitmuangnon.
The two firefights have been a topic of discussion among fans of the ‘Art of Eight Limbs’ since they happened, mainly because both Jonathan Haggerty and Rodtang tried to maul each other into oblivion every chance they got.
Looking back at those two fights, Jonathan Haggerty admits he learned a lot from the experience and grew as a professional fighter.
Speaking with Heatrick Muay Thai Performance, ‘The General’ talked about how fighting Rodtang changed his mindset. Haggerty said:

“Championship mindset. Like for instance, when they tell you, ‘You got to fight Rodtang’. In your head, you don’t say no. You just say, ‘Yeah, let’s do it’. From the get-go, you just say ‘Yeah, that’s what I want to do. That’s how I’m going to beat him’. That’s the championship mindset you need to have.”

The Englishman is no doubt a better fighter now because of his wars with Rodtang, and will be looking to showcase his world championship form once again when he returns to action with another opportunity to capture ONE gold.
Haggerty will take on reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama at ONE Fight Night 9 later next month.
If Haggerty can defeat Nong-O, he could shock the world yet again as the Thai legend has looked unbeatable as of late.
