UFC 287 brings one of the most anticipated rematches of the year. The main event of the night will see the second meeting between former kickboxing foes Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira in the octagon. Last November, the Brazilian captured the Nigerian-born Kiwi's undisputed middleweight title by knocking him out in the fifth round. 'Poatan' also holds two wins over Adeasanya in kickboxing.
The co-main event of the UFC 287 fight card pitches BMF champion Jorge Masvidal against the No.5-ranked welterweight Gilbert Burns. Masvidal is coming off a unanimous decision loss against Colby Covington, while 'Durinho' was last seen earning a first-round submission victory against Neil Magny at UFC 283.
UFC wunderkind Raul Rosas Jr. also returns to the pay-per-view, where he'll take on fellow American Christian Rodriguez. 'El Nino Problema' is undefeated in his career (7-0), while Rodriguez holds a record of 8-1.
When Israel Adesanya revealed his motivation for UFC 287
In a recent media event for UFC 284, former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya stated that his motivation for the upcoming fight is to finally beat his arch-rival, Alex Pereira.
'The Last Stylebender' stated that winning the middleweight strap back takes a backseat when it comes to settling the score with the Brazilian champion:
"I've never not been motivated to fight this guy, but this one I've put the pressure on myself like f**k the belt, f**k everything else, I've to beat this guy. So, yeah, that's I guess my motivation is just beating him... They can say whatever they want, you know it's 1-0 or 3-0. I don't keep score, I settle them and I just need one and I'm going to get it done."
