Janet Todd says martial arts has helped her gain confidence in multiple aspects of life.
Janet Todd has established herself as one of the absolute best fighters in all of ONE Championship in recent years with performances that have netted her ONE gold in both kickboxing and Muay Thai. Holder of the promotion’s atomweight kickboxing world championship, ‘JT’ went for two-sport supremacy in July against dangerous striker Lara Hernandez.
The two women squared off for the ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai world championship in the absence of reigning titleholder Allycia Hellen Rodrigues. Todd delivered a masterful performance for five rounds to capture the title at ONE 159. Ahead of her return to the Circle later this month, Todd spoke with ONE Championship about martial arts and how it has changed her life both in and out of the cage.
“I think what martial arts, at least, has done for me, is giving me confidence that I can take on challenges that I thought I couldn’t and find a way to get it done. And it’s not just in martial arts, but outside, in my work and everything else in life.”

Janet Todd hopes to see combat sports continue to grow
Janet Todd hopes to inspire the next generation of combat sports stars every time she steps into the Circle.
‘JT’ has already etched her name into the history books as a two-sport ONE world champion, holding wins over some seriously tough competition including Ekaterina Vandaryeva, Anne Line Hogstad, and fan-favorite Stamp Fairtex. She hopes to add Allycia Hellen Rodrigues’ name to her resume on March 24 when ONE Championship returns to the familiar confines of Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Whether she wins or loses, Janet Todd is just happy for the opportunity to inspire the next crop of fighters and is thankful for the platform ONE Championship provides to herself and other aspiring fighters.
"I hope people can see what I do and say, ‘Yeah, I can do that.’ Or even say, ‘Yeah, I could do that better. I could be the next champion and help the sport grow.’"
"ONE Championship is a great platform, but I hope the sport continues to grow through some of these major promotions like ONE Championship. And, yeah, I hope people get inspired to compete. If I can do it, you can do it."
