Sean O'Malley and his coach Tim Welch gave their thoughts on the matchup between Paddy Pimblett and Jared Gordon at UFC 282 in a deleted episode of the TimboSugarShow.

Sean O'Malley asked his coach what he thought about the lightweight match-up between the Liverpudlian and the American. Tim Welch referred to Gordon as a short wrestler with an orthodox stance that "doesn't throw anything crazy."

Sean O'Malley then alluded to Paddy Pimblett's last fight, where Pimblett submitted Jordan Leavitt at UFC Fight Night 208. O'Malley stated:

"It [Pimblett vs. Leavitt] was pretty close, it was pretty even. And then - Paddy, kind of, took over there [and] obviously choked him."

When it came to his thoughts on Pimblett's upcoming bout with Gordon, the No. 1-ranked UFC bantamweight said it was an interesting matchup:

"Yeah, this is going to be an interesting matchup. 'Jordan Flash'... Jared 'Flash'. If your name is 'Flash', you got to be quick. [He's] 5'9", he's not that short."
Tim Welch then went on to say that Paddy Pimblett looks good against "decent" fighters. Welch said that he would like to see the Scouser take on a specialist, in his words: "Like a really good [jiu-jitsu] black belt, or someone with really good striking."

Welch picked Paddy Pimblett to emerge as the winner of his bout with Jared Gordon.

Paddy Pimblett on Sean O'Malley

Appearing on Anything Goes With James English, Paddy Pimblett spoke about the time news outlets conflated a certain word which Pimblett had supposedly called Sean O'Malley.

According to Pimblett, he had referred to O'Malley as a 'pothead' while news outlets misquoted him as calling the bantamweight a "b***h a** pothead."

James English said that Sean O'Malley thinks highly of Paddy Pimblett, to which Pimblett responded:

"I said something about him...like...something about - he's a striker, but I thought that he doesn't really like grappling. But I've seen a few videos of him grappling, lad. So, it's a bit like me - a lot of people said that I was just a grappler who couldn't strike. They've probably done the same narrative with him...he obviously can grapple."

On possibly fighting O'Malley, 'The Baddy' had the following to say:

"If he wants to fight me, lad, I'll fight him especially [because] of how small he is. But, as I said, we're on different paths, lad. He's a 135-er, I'm a 155-er. There's 20 pounds in between us. To be honest, the UFC will not want to put us together...[It's] business for them, lad, they're not stupid."
