Rutten's character in the game is shown as an eccentric, violent individual with a possible criminal past. Interestingly, Rutten also wrote the script for the in-game talk show. The former UFC heavyweight champion also did the motion capture work for the fights in the game.
During a 2018 interview with Submission Radio, Rutten detailed how he helped in making the GTA IV fights more realistic:
"So what happened with the motion capture is that normally you just hit the air right and they capture that... But I told them guys... what you need to do is let me hit something because I'm telling you if you see that connect with something, you see the power coming back... We bought some focus mitts, some thai pads. So my friend was holding it up... and we started hitting and actually connecting against things. They freaked out man. The difference if you see, it's so cool."
