Jack Della Maddalena is arguably the hottest prospect in the UFC welterweight division right now. He entered the division's rankings at No.14 this week following a fourth consecutive victory in the promotion.

But you don't need to see Della Maddalena in the octagon to realize that he is a lover of violence. All you need to do is glance at the astonishingly "smashed" nose on his face, which he stated was broken in his second MMA fight.

The Australian fighter began training in boxing at the age of 14 and shortly thereafter began training MMA full-time. After competing in Eternal MMA in Australia for five years, Jack Della Maddalena featured on Dana White's Contender Series, winning the bout via unanimous decision.

He was then awarded a UFC contract and quickly won three fights in a row via TKO in 2022. This past weekend at UFC 284, the Aussie opened his 2023 account by submitting Randy Brown.

Considering the success that Della Maddalena has achieved, fans have wondered why he doesn't fix his obviously damaged nose. During an interview with Ariel Helwani several months ago, he revealed why he's yet to do so:

"I've got a pretty bad nose, it's pretty much going zigzag. It's been smashed in. I am going to get it fixed one day, but I just thought, 'What's the point in getting it fixed now when my job is to get punched in [my nose] for a living?' But I will one day... It happened, I think in my second MMA fight. I got kneed straight in the nose and since that day it's been facing the wrong way."

Jack Della Maddalena reflects on fighting in his hometown of Perth

Jack Della Maddalena produced arguably the best performance of his career last weekend at UFC 284. He took on Randy Brown in a highly anticipated clash between two promising welterweight contenders.

Della Maddalena was able to secure a first-round win after submitting Brown via rear-naked choke. The pay-per-view event took place in Della Maddalena's hometown of Perth, Australia, and the crowd erupted when their homegrown star landed a powerful right hook that dropped Randy Brown prior to the submission.

Jack Della Maddalena was interviewed by Brett Okamoto following his win and said this about fighting in Perth:

"It was incredible. Incredible to wake up in your own bed and get to fight. But honestly, the same emotions and everything, it didn't change. Just felt like another fight."
