There was a time when MMA great Jon Jones was the center of the MMA world for all the wrong reasons - including the ire of fighters like Dan Hooker. The troubles and mishaps 'Bones' experienced outside the octagon have arguably put a smear on his otherwise pristine legacy as a prizefighter.

Back in 2021, 'Bones' had a heated war of words with UFC lightweight Dan Hooker. Jones had some pretty harsh words for 'The Hangman' regarding his career potential:

"@danthehangman, every oppotunity you've had to make a name for yourself and be closer to your boy Izzy, you dropped the ball. You can't achieve greatness, so you hop online and attack someone who has. Sounds about right."

To this, Hooker replied:

"Life hack: if you don't beat up your wife, family events will be more enjoyable. Merry Xmas b*tch."

Those were quite the scathing set of banters from the two all-time greats. As of this writing, the two haven't made any effort to make amends or bury the hatchet - at least not in front of the public eye.

Dan Hooker wins grueling battle against Mateusz Gamrot, earns third victory in a row

At UFC 305 last weekend, Dan Hooker put on a show for the Australian crowd as he went toe-to-toe with highly-ranked Polish superstar Mateusz Gamrot. The fight earned Fight of the Night honors and it's easy to see why.

Hooker made things exciting early by going after his Polish foe right from the get-go, unloading a hellacious amount of punishment. Gamrot momentarily took things to the ground but Hooker got back to his feet and wobbled his opponent near the end of the round.

The second round saw a clear strategy for Gamrot: take the fight to the ground as he wanted no business dealing with Hooker's strikes. Still, the Kiwi wildman shook the arena with his relentless, marauding attacks.

A vintage 'Hangman' moment happened in-between rounds two and three where, while sitting on his stool, Hooker smiled from ear to ear and shouted to his coach, "I love this sh*t!".

Hooker closed the show by keeping his crazy, violent pace well into the third round, with Gamrot answering with his powerful grappling. In the end, 'The Hangman' earned did enough to earn the Unanimous Decision win.
