Jarred Brooks has made it very clear how confident he is going into ONE 164. On December 3, the American will take on dominant strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio in Manila.
Whilst Brooks has had a lot to say about his opponent and their upcoming fight, ‘The Monkey God’ has been able to back up all of his talk so far with his performances inside the circle.
With three consecutive wins since debuting in November of last year, Brooks has emerged as the clear number one contender for the dominant champion’s strawweight gold.
In an interview with The MMA Superfan, he spoke about where he gets so much confidence from going into the biggest fight of his career to date:

“As a fighter, I’ve looked at every possible situation. Sometimes you lose, and sometimes you win. But at the end of the day, I know that when I step into the circle, nobody is beating me.”

Joshua Pacio has gone undefeated since winning the world championship back from Yosuke Saruta in April 2019.
All three of Jarred Brooks’ wins under the ONE Championship banner have come after Pacio’s last title defense, when he stopped Saruta in the first round of their trilogy fight.
“I mean every word” - Jarred Brooks on the legitimacy of his trash talk
No.1-ranked strawweight contender Jarred Brooks has made a huge impact since debuting in ONE Championship in November last year. Whilst his skills have led him to the position, Brooks has not been afraid to grab the microphone and say whatever he wants.
‘The Monkey God’ may talk a lot, but he’s backed it up so far with his performances inside the circle. The American also believes every word that he says and is supremely confident.
In the lead-up to ONE 164 on December 3, Brooks has become the heel figure as he looks to take on strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio in front of his home crowd in Manila.
After trash-talking Pacio throughout the build-up to their fight, the challenger will be stepping into enemy territory with a target on his back. Explaining how he isn’t doing it just to make headlines, Jarred Brooks spoke about his feelings towards Pacio in an interview with MMA Sucka:
“You’re actually messing with me bro. And that does get into everybody’s head and I mean it. That’s why they get scared and I do mean it. I mean every word, this is not anything fake that I’m saying. It is planned out but it’s nothing fake.”
The fight would have been big regardless due to the skill level of both men, but it can’t be left unnoticed that Jarred Brooks’ talking has added even more anticipation to this fight.
