It was revealed by Daniel Cormier that Islam Makhachev and his team spent close to $1 million dollars when preparing for UFC 280.

Makhachev is currently on an 11-fight win streak, with all of these victories coming under the UFC banner. The lightweight champion will now take on Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284 next year.

Who has Islam Makhachev beaten during his 11-fight winning streak in the UFC?

The Dagestani's winning spree began back in 2016 after Makhachev suffered his first and only professional defeat against Adriano Martins. The 31-year-old defeated Chris Wade in his next fight via unanimous decision.

Makhachev went on to get the better of Nik Lentz, Gleison Tibau, and Kajan Johnson before facing his toughest test of the time in 2019. Arman Tsarukyan had only been beaten once before he faced off against the Dagestani, but Makhachev outgrappled Tsarukyan to secure another unanimous decision victory.

Islam Makhachev went on to beat the likes of Davi Ramos, Drew Dober, Thiago Moises, and Dan Hooker between 2019 and 2021. This eventually led to the Dagestani facing Bobby Green, whom Makhachev finished in the first round.

Such a dominant display against Green earned Makhachev a shot at the lightweight title at UFC 280. Charles Oliveira was expected to be the toughest test of Makhachev's career. However, the 32-year-old managed to submit 'do Bronx' within 10 minutes.
