The UFC 246 main event did not deliver on its hype as Conor McGregor made quick work of Donald Cerrone. But it wasn't just the fans who were let down, NFL star Baker Mayfield also had reason to feel let down.
The quarterback was in attendance at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada on January 18, 2020, for the pay-per-view and was ignored by the global broadcast. Pay-per-view broadcasts often pan towards all the notable attendees and celebrities while introducing them and their field of work, but Mayfield was regrettably overlooked.
Several other NFL stars, including Mayfield's then-teammate at the Cleveland Browns, defensive end Myles Garrett, received attention The two teammates were seated next to each other, but only Garrett was acknowledged by the broadcast.

The jokes from the online community rolled right in:
"Good to see world class athletes & NFL stars at the UFC fight tonight. Good to see Baker Mayfield too."
"Ouch. Celebrity shots at UFC 246. “Former number one pick of the Cleveland Browns, Myles Garrett!” He was sitting right next to former number one pick of the Cleveland Browns, Baker Mayfield. Not a mention. They moved on to Tom Brady."
Baker Mayfield's choice of headwear also got a mention from fans.
"Amazingly, choosing to wear this hat was worse than any decision Baker Mayfield made on the football field this year."
Baker Mayfield recently joined the Tampa Bay Buccanneers on a one-year contract to replace legendary seven-time champion Tom Brady as the team's first-choice quarterback. Coincidentally, Brady was also in attendance at UFC 246.
UFC 246 marked Conor McGregor's last win inside the octagon
UFC 246 was the last time Conor McGregor won inside the octagon and marks his only victory in nearly seven years.
His historic matchup against Khabib Nurmagomedov preceded his welterweight bout against Donald Cerrone and a relatively easy victory was followed by back-to-back losses against Dustin Poirier.
Bantamweight contender Sean O'Malley made mention of that by implying that McGregor chose his opponents depending on his chances of beating them.
In a recent podcast episode, 'Sugar' also weighed in on the upcoming Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight:
"Conor, and rightfully so, only fights people he sees himself beating. His whole career... He's very f**king smart, he's like, 'I know I can beat this guy, I'll fight this guy.' He's fighting Michael Chandler for a reason. Chad Mendes, he's fought a lot of these guys, but Michael Chandler is dangerous though."
