The UFC's fifth pay-per-view (PPV) event of 2023 will go down at the Miami-Dade Arena in Miami, Florida, on April 8. The arena is home to the NBA team, Miami Heat.
A middleweight championship rematch between reigning champion Alex Pereira and former champion Israel Adesanya is expected to headline the UFC 287 pay-per-view event. The pair previously met at UFC 281, where Pereira captured the title via a fifth-round knockout. The rivalry took its roots outside the organization when both competed actively in kickboxing. Pereira's two victories over Adesanya in kickboxing proved to be a fitting backdrop for them to extend their fierce rivalry on the grand stage of the biggest MMA organization in the world.

Israel Adesanya previews his upcoming clash against Alex Pereira at UFC 287
Israel Adesanya is determined to beat Alex Pereira in their long-standing rivalry that spans two sports. The latest chapter in the rivalry will go down in April later this year when the pair lock horns with Pereira's middleweight championship on the line.
Prior to their last bout, Adesanya was reigning supreme over the 185-pound division, amassing five title defenses and collecting signature victories over the likes of Robert Whittaker, Paulo Costa, and Marvin Vettori.
Setting up the narrative for the highly anticipated clash in a recent interview with The MacLife, Adesanya stated:
“This is a part of my story. In any story, there are valleys. Also for him, one man’s hero is another man’s villain. If you look at his life from his point of view, I’m the villain. I’m the guy... the underdog that he beat. I went to the UFC and, he chased me, got me, beat me. So this is my story now. This is my time for his story.”
