Frank Collazo is an MMA referee and judge approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Collazo became famous in the MMA community after Fury FC 76 on Friday, March 24th. After serving as the referee for several fights, he made a massive mistake in the main event. During the fourth round, Gianni Vazquez went unconscious from a triangle choke submission by Edgar Chairez.
Unfortunately, Collazo was unaware that Vazquez was knocked out. The fight continued until the Mexican-born fighter gained consciousness nearly thirty seconds later and taped once Chairez transitioned to an armbar.
The dangerous situation has created plenty of backlash from those concerned for Vazquez’s health. It turns out that Collazo is not an inexperienced referee. According to Sherdog, he has been officiating MMA fights since 2014, with over 100 appearances in several regional promotions, including Fury FC, LFA, STFC, RXMMA, and more.

Is Frank Collazo scheduled to be a judge at UFC San Antonio?
Frank Collazo has received backlash from fans, media members, and fighters ever since the Fury FC 76 main event. A day later, the controversial referee will have a judging role in a more significant event. New York Post Sports reporter Scott Fontana confirmed that Collazo is set to work the UFC San Antonio event:
“Can confirm Frank Collazo is judging #UFCSanAntonio tonight. His only UFC score on record with MMA Decisions was UFC 192, 8 years ago. He had 30-27 Ryan Bader over Rashad Evans. Same score as two infamous Texas judges: JJ Ferraro and Patrick Patlán.”
UFC San Antonio features eleven fights inside the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. In the main event, top-five bantamweights Cory Sandhagen and Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera look to take another step towards a title shot. The event starts at 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+.
