Manuel Jaimes is a 24-year-old boxer who was born in San Jose, California. Jaimes comes from a big family where he's the second youngest of six siblings.

Jaimes spent most of his life, especially his athletic career, in the notorious fighting city of Stockton, California. The rising prospect has worked closely with Steve Salas of the Stockton Police Youth Activities program.

In July 2018, Jaimes made his professional boxing debut under intriguing circumstances. The boxer's longtime coach, Salas, was selling a ring to a smaller promotion and offered them a better deal to add Jaimes to the fight card.

Jaimes capitalized on the opportunity and secured a second-round TKO win against Carlos Apodaca Duran. The California native continued building momentum with ten more victories, including seven inside the distance.

Jaimes' first setback came against Alejandro Frias Rodriguez in a fight that was scored a split-decision draw. He bounced back ten months later with another knockout win against Moises Flores, pushing his record to 12-0-1.

In April 2022, Manuel Jaimes suffered the lone loss in his professional boxing career, a unanimous decision against Pedro Bernal Rodriguez. Luckily for him, his young age and exciting fighting style gave him the opportunity to get back on track and prove he has the potential to become a future world champion.

Manuel Jaimes looks to capitalize on massive platform and defeat Rolly Romero

On Saturday, Sept. 14, Canelo Alvarez will defend his super middleweight world title against Edgar Berlanga. The highly-anticipated event is dedicated to Mexican Independence Day, with the main card featuring four intriguing matchups.

Saturday's pay-per-view will start with a 140-pound matchup between Manuel Jaimes and Rolly Romero. Jaimes is riding a four-fight winning streak since his first loss and now looks to make a statement in his first fight at 140.

Romero has become one of the biggest boxing superstars that doesn't currently hold a world title. He has fought world-class opposition in his last three fights, defeating Ismael Barroso and losing against Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz.

Romero looks to get back on track following a loss against Cruz last time out. Meanwhile, Jaimes plans to capitalize on the massive attention brought to Canelo events and make a name for himself at 140 pounds.
