Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois is seemingly next for the WBA Heavyweight Title.

'The Cat' has been out of action since his split-decision victory over Anthony Joshua last August. With the win, Usyk secured his second straight win over 'AJ', and he was also one step closer to a fight with Tyson Fury.

A clash between the two champions would crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion in over two decades. The last to accomplish the feat was the great Lennox Lewis, and 'The Lion' will continue to occupy that place in history for a while.

Despite months of talks, an announced date, and even a booked venue in the U.K., Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury couldn't be made official. According to reports, issues with the rematch clause, as well as the revenue split from the matchup, halted the historic bout.

With that, both men now head back to the drawing board. While 'The Gypsy King' doesn't yet have a dance partner for his return, it seems that 'The Cat' does. Earlier today, the WBA announced that Usyk would defend his gold against Daniel Dubuois next.

The council had already ordered the fight earlier this year but allowed the Ukrainian time to first try and make a deal with Fury. With that deal now off, Usyk and Dubois will have until early May to strike a deal for their championship fight.

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois: Who is 'Dynamite'?

Oleksandr Usyk's next fight against Daniel Dubois is a big opportunity for 'Dynamite'.

Obviously, the matchup hasn't been made as of now, but the two sides have previously shown interest in making the fight happen. It's also worth noting that Usyk's team pulled the plug on the fight with Fury as he wanted to stay active.

With that in mind, Dubois is the right man at the right time. During Usyk's title reign since winning the title from Anthony Joshua in September 2021, the Brit has been the WBA (Regular) heavyweight champion. Dubois captured the title with a knockout win over Trevor Bryan last June.

However, that win was the best of the British heavyweight's career thus far. Sitting at a 19-1 professional record, Dubois is very unproven compared to the current crop of top heavyweight contenders such as Deontay Wilder, Andy Ruiz, and Joe Joyce.

However, a matchup with Oleksandr Usyk provides that chance. While Dubois' shot at gold is yet to be made official, reports are that the bout could take place in the summer.
