Rhiannon Dixon is set for the first defense of her WBO world lightweight title against Terri Harper at Cannon Medical Arena, Sheffield, on Sept. 28.

Dixon got the opportunity to shine in the main event after the original heavyweight headliner between Johnny Fisher and Andriy Rudenko was scrapped, following the former's injury.

The fight was previously booked to take place at the Co-Op live arena in Manchester on Aug. 24 but was later moved to September after the main event between Jack Catterall and Regis Prograis fell through.

The 29-year-old picked up the Commonwealth lightweight title in March 2023 when she defeated Vicky Wilkinson via TKO in the sixth round, her sole knockout victory in the ring. Thereafter, she claimed the vacant European lightweight championship in September last year, where she defeated Katharina Thanderz via unanimous decision.

This would mark the Warrington native's first title defense opportunity following her unanimous decision victory over Karen Elizabeth Carabajal in April this year. The contest saw Dixon score a knockdown in the third round and ultimately emerge victorious to be crowned as the WBO lightweight queen.

The main event women's lightweight showdown would see the two British sensations go head-to-head for the WBO title at the Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield on Sept. 28.

Dixon has a perfect 10-0 record in her ten professional boxing bouts. She chose boxing as a career path despite acquiring a pharmacist degree from Manchester University. She worked as a pharmacist at Whiston Hospital for quite some time before committing herself fully to the art and science of pugilism. With three titles in her bag, it's safe to say the gamble paid off.

Dixon is training under former world champion Anthony Crolla, and has a regular sparring partner in the form of world champion Natasha Jonas.

Dixon's partner, Ross, is frequently seen with the champion, supporting her ventures.

Rhiannon Dixon on how her mentality towards boxing changed

Rhiannon Dixon has soared through the British boxing circuit, emerging with multiple titles under her name. Although she's enjoying the fruits of labor now, things weren't always so rosy for the Warrington native.

In an interview with iFL TV, the WBO lightweight champion described how her initial passive interest in the sport gave way to the deep passion.

On being asked whether Dixon believed she would rise through the ranks so quickly (she made her pro debut in 2019), to which the champion revealed:

"Not this quick. Like when I started white color, it was not in my mind, and then when I turned professional, I was like still half-working, and you know, I was just kind of seeing where I could go with it cuz you're only young once, so you just got to take the opportunity."

She added:

"Then when I was able to get sponsorship and go full time, I knew in my head, oh! I'm going to be a world champion and like people might think, oh yeah whatever you're from white color, and I was like, well I'm not giving up my day job to just come and fart around with it, am I? No so at that point I thought, no I'm giving everything to it and I will be a world champion."
