UFC card tonight: UFC 302 main card fighters
Here is a list of all the main card fights for this weekend's UFC 302 event:
Islam Makhachev (c) vs. Dustin Poirier (lightweight)
Sean Strickland vs. Paulo Costa (middleweight)
Kevin Holland vs. Michał Oleksiejczuk (middleweight)
Niko Price vs. Alex Morono (welterweight)
Randy Brown vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (welterweight)
Islam Makhachev (25-1)
Islam Makhachev has been on a tear in the lightweight division. The Dagestani captured the lightweight title by submitting Charles Oliveira at UFC 280. He eked out a razor-close split decision win over Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284 in Australia before dispatching 'The Great' via first-round KO in a rematch at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.
Makhachev is currently on a 13-fight win streak with the KO loss in his second UFC fight being the only blemish on his otherwise perfect professional career.
Dustin Poirier (30-8-1NC)
Dustin Poirier has gone 0-2 in undisputed lightweight championship fights. 'The Diamond' came up short against against then-champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 in 2019, followed by a second failed attempt against Charles Oliveira at UFC 269 two years later.
Poirier earned his third shot at the lightweight throne by dispatching French standout Benoit Saint Denis at UFC 299 in March.
Sean Strickland (28-6)
Sean Strickland will enter this fight hoping to rebound from his split decision loss to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297. The Californian dropped the middleweight title to the South African just four months after winning it from Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 in September.
Paulo Costa (14-3)
Paulo Costa has only managed one win over his last four fights. The Brazilian is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Robert Whittaker in his last assignment and will hope to regain momentum when he returns to the octagon on Saturday.
Kevin Holland (25-11-1NC)
After notching back-to-back finishes last year, Kevin Holland suffered two straight decision losses. 'Trailblazer' lost a split decision to Jack Della Maddalena to close out 2023 before ending up on the wrong side of a unanimous decision against Michael Page at UFC 299 in March.
Michał Oleksiejczuk (19-7-1NC)
Michał Oleksiejczuk has struggled for consistency throughout his UFC career. Hassar' has never won or lost three fights in a row during his promotional run. The Polish fighter is going 3-3 in his last six bouts and is coming off a first-round technical submission loss to Michel Pereira on the same card Holland lost to Michael Page.
Niko Price (15-7-2NC)
Niko Price will look to bounce back after getting stopped in his last two fights. 'The Hybrid' was most recently dispatched by Robbie Lawler via first-round knockout at UFC 290.
Alex Morono (24-9-1NC)
Alex Morono is 2-2 in his last four fights and is fresh off a unanimous decision victory over Court McGee in April. The Texan will make a quick turnaround for his upcoming bout against Niko Price this Saturday.
Randy Brown (18-5)
Randy Brown is coming off back-to-back wins to rebound from his unanimous decision loss to Jack Della Maddalena. The Jamaican most recently knocked out Muslim Salikhov in February.
Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (24-7-1D)
Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos' collision course with Rinat Fakhretdinov ended in a majority draw last November. This was after his split decision win over Abubakar Nurmagomedov in June that year.
UFC card tonight: UFC 302 preliminary card fighters
Here is a list of all the prelim card fights for this weekend's UFC 302 event:
Cesar Almeida vs. Roman Kopylov (middleweight)
Jailton Almeida vs. Alexandr Romanov (heavyweight)
Grant Dawson vs. Joe Solecki (lightweight)
Phil Rowe vs. Jake Matthews (welterweight)
Cesar Almeida (5-0)
Cesar Almeida made an emphatic UFC debut, dispatching Dylan Budka via technical knockout in April. The unbeaten Brazilian will hope to carry that momentum into his sophomore octagon appearance on Saturday.
Roman Kopylov (12-3)
Roman Kopylov registered four straight finishes through 2022-23 before getting submitted by Anthony Hernandez at UFC 298 earlier this year. The Russian will look to get back into the win column at UFC 302 in New Jersey.
Jailton Almeida (20-3)
Jailton Almeida saw a 15-fight win streak snapped in a knockout loss to Curtis Blaydes at UFC 299 in March. The loss marked his first defeat inside the UFC octagon. The Brazilian will be eager to get back to his winning ways when he returns to the octagon in New Jersey.
Alexandr Romanov (17-2)
Alexandr Romanov was on a roll with 16 straight finishes before he hit a roadblock, dropping back-to-back fights through 2022-23, including a TKO loss against Alexander Volkov. The Moldovan rebounded by edging out Blagoy Ivanov last July and will look to kickstart another win streak starting Saturday.
Grant Dawson (20-2-1D)
After going unbeaten in 12 straight fights, marred only by a draw, Grant Dawson saw his momentum come to a halt in a vicious first-round KO loss to Bobby Green in October. 'KGD' will be determined to claw his way back into the win column and prove he's still a force to be reckoned with in the stacked 155-pound division.
Joe Solecki (13-4)
Joe Solecki has gone 2-2 in his last four trips to the octagon. In his latest outing last December, the New Jersey native suffered a brutal knockout loss at the hands of Drakkar Klose.
Phil Rowe (10-4)
Phil Rowe won three consecutive fights via TKO before ending up on the wrong end of a split decision against Neil Magny last year. The New Yorker will hope to get back on track with a win this Saturday.
Jake Matthews (19-7)
Jake Matthews has alternated losses and wins across his last five fights. In his latest outing in November, the Aussie dropped a unanimous decision to Michael Morales.
