Chael Sonnen, known for his polarizing personality, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to the results of UFC 294, which saw Islam Makhachev retain his lightweight throne after dusting off Alexander Volkanovski in the very first round.

Sonnen, known for his antics, tweeted a couple of days after UFC 294, and said:

"Islam beat Volk via KO in round 1."

Whether this late tweet was an attempt at humor, or to backup a prediction that he had made, most fans took Sonnen's comments in jest. Many of them took to X to reply, making for one of the funnier comment sections in recent times.

Islam Makhachev claims #2 spot on P4P list, gives his reaction

Following his stunning knockout win over Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 294, many claimed that Islam Makhachev was deserving of the #1 spot on the pound-for-pound rankings.

That, however, didn't come to be, as Jon Jones was placed at the top of the updated rankings. In an interview, Islam Makhachev was asked about the updated P4P list, and he replied by saying:

"Who makes these rankings, what they do it for, I have no clue. I beat the P4P king before, they didn't put me at #1. So now I am not surprised that they did it this way again. Maybe that's because he (referring to Jones) is fighting again soon, so they want to promote this fight. I don't understand what else I should do to get the #1 spot."
