Who is Trevor McCumby? Family, boxing stats, and more

Trevor McCumby is an undefeated American boxer with a record of 28-0, with 21 knockouts to his name. Born in Yorkville, Illinois on Sept. 22, 1992, the talented boxer built a stellar amateur career of 127-11, before turning pro at the age of 18.

The orthodox boxer stands at 6 feet and boasts a reach of 74 inches. The Glendale native was last seen in a unanimous decision win over Christopher Pearson in January.

Despite being undefeated, McCumby's career has been far from spotless. His win over Donovan George in 2016 was overturned to a no-contest after his pre-fight urine sample tested positive for two banned substances.

Furthermore, he also admitted to using intravenous infusions to rehydrate for the fight, which is against the laws of the Nevada State Atheltic Commission. In July 2017, he was handed an 18-month ban by the commission, retroactive from November 2016.

McCumby also fell off the map after his 2018 win over Felipe Romero. A four-and-a-half-year hiatus followed, partly due to a knee injury, with him returning to the sport in 2023.

Currently ranked No.8 on the WBA super middleweight rankings a win over Plant will most likely see him break into the top five of the division. 'Sweethands' is undoubtedly the toughest of McCumby's career so far.

According to theFightForum, it was his father, a former marine turned police officer who served as a presidential honor guard during his service, who got him into the sport.

While California state regulations required a child to be at least eight to be trained in the sweet science, McCumby Sr. reportedly lied about his son's age to initiate his training at seven.

The boxer is married to McKenzie McCumby, with whom he shares two children, a three-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter. The couple is expecting their third child in November.
