Merab Dvalishvili takes a shot at referee Herb Dean after UFC 306
Merab Dvalishvili has admitted that referee Herb Dean's actions during the final round of his title fight against Sean O'Malley at UFC 306 affected his performance.
Dvalishvili, who won the fight via unanimous decision, was initially pleased with Dean's officiating, particularly his handling of O'Malley's corner's callouts. However, after rewatching the fight, Dvalishvili noticed that Dean's instructions in the fifth round disrupted his dominant position.
In a recent X post, Dvalishvili wrote:
"I had O'Malleys back in a good position and giving damage with knees. But Herb kept telling me to work. So I switched my position, and he told again - work. I let go again and lost my dominant position. I was waiting for Sean to work so I could punch his face or grab the submission."
