Demetrious Johnson recently questioned why Conor McGregor is so adamant on returning to the octagon. Johnson pointed to McGregor's accomplishments during his stint in the UFC, claiming that the Irishman does not require a paycheck anymore.
McGregor made headlines last month after being found liable for assaulting Nikita Hand in 2018. Moreover, the civil court ordered him to pay Hand more than $250,000 in compensation. However, the former two-division champion has consistently refuted the accusations and promised to appeal the court's decision.
Given McGregor's legal troubles, Johnson has asked McGregor why he is so persistent on making his MMA comeback. During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, 'Mighty Mouse' joked about the Irishman supposedly not having enough money to consume illegal substances while highlighting the wealth that McGregor has accumulated over the years of fighting.
He said:

''Conor McGregor, if I was to ask him why are you still fighting? What makes you want to come back? You have all the money in the world that you can ever want. An extra 10/20 million that should not effect the 500 million he’s made off selling. I don't know how much cocaine is, I don't know but it can't be that expensive. I don't know, I should ask Oscar De La Hoya.''

As for the MMA scene, McGregor suffered a leg injury during his last octagon outing at UFC 264 in 2021 against former interim champion Dustin Poirier. Given that the two served as opposing coaches at 'The Ultimate Fighter 31', 'The Notorious' was expected to face Michael Chandler upon his recovery, but their fight fell through due to McGregor's problems with USADA.
McGregor and Chandler were then set to square off in a welterweight bout at UFC 303 earlier this year, but the Irishman was unable to compete due to a toe injury.
Conor McGregor intends to move out of Ireland after losing the assault case
Despite Conor McGregor's desire to challenge the court's decision after being found liable for assaulting Nikita Hand at a Dublin hotel in 2018, the Irishman plans to make a fresh start by permanently relocating to the United States.
The news outlet Irish Mirror reported that McGregor and his long-term partner, Dee Devlin, who has consistently shown support for her fiance, will leave Ireland and relocate to Florida to begin a new life. According to one of the sources:
''Conor has been completely rattled by the devastating fallout as a result of losing the civil case. He is going to appeal the verdict to clear his name. He is genuinely very upset by it all and the manner in which he feels he has been betrayed.'' [H/t: Mirror]
