Roberto Soldic was one of the hottest free-agent signings in recent years. Three months after first announcing he had inked a deal with ONE Championship, the Croatian star will make his first walk to the circle this Friday night at ONE on Prime Video 5. Meeting him will be undefeated Russian Murad Ramazanov.

Ahead of his highly anticipated debut, Roberto Soldic spoke about his early days in MMA in an interview with ONE Championship. Soldic revealed that his initial training came from following videos he found on YouTube:

“And then the first fight was in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a city called Noshki. First fight, the guy was straight away professional. The guy was I think 2-0, 3-0, the guy was a hometown guy. I said, ‘Give me six months, I will be ready,’ and then I follow the YouTube a little bit, without the coaches, without anything, I just like to follow the rules, what to do every day, two times a day training, the pads, judo, strength, and conditioning, the ground, and pound, this kind of stuff.”

Soldic concluded his comments by saying:

“But I was really alone in the garage, and I never gave up. I just trained. I liked this. Every time when I go, I love this and still I love and I cannot stop.”

Roberto Soldic is ready to “fight everybody” in ONE Championship

When Roberto Soldic announced that he had signed with ONE Championship, he revealed his number one goal was to get “all the belts” and solidify his status as the best fighter in the world.

He’ll get started on that goal with a tough matchup against Murad Ramazanov this Friday night.

Initially announcing his signing on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Roberto Soldic indicated that a serious step-up in competition is exactly what he was looking for and he hopes to get exactly that under the ONE Championship banner:

"I want to stay humble. I want to feel the cage. I don’t want pressure, because this is no joke to these fighters. And when I see how they throw the elbows and everything, low kicks, you know this is really different. So I go for challenges in ONE Championship. I said to Chatri, ‘I want to fight everybody.'"
