Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) star Dante Leon had to adjust some of his personal plans over the holiday break to better prepare for action at ONE Fight Night 27 on Friday, Jan. 10.
The two-time IBJJF No-Gi World Champion will battle two-time ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship challenger Tommy Langaker at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Speaking with the Bangkok Post, Leon explained the concessions he made to get ready for their catchweight (180 pounds) submission grappling bout:
"I think it's cool to stay active. I've always been under the kind of training that I like to have a match a month, or I like to have some kind of tournament every four to six weeks. So this kind of fit right within the plans."

He continued:
"Little unfortunate that it had to go during the Christmas break, and had to change up some of my typical Christmas plans and typical holiday plans, you know. But work is work. And we prepared for this just like we prepared for the last one. So being back here is really cool."

Dante Leon puts respect on Tommy Langaker's abilities
Though they have not faced each other since Tommy Langaker ended Dante Leon's bid early in the 82kg division of the 2018 IBJJF Pan-American Championships, the 29-year-old reminded fans why Langaker is a major threat in the same interview with the Bangkok Post.
The Pedigo Submission Fighting product said:
"Tommy's a really tough guy, maybe not the most active competitor. So some people might forget, because that's kind of what the public does - if you're not in the public's eye all the time, they'll forget about how good you actually are."
ONE Fight Night 27 will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
