Pro-wrestling star Cody Rhodes shared how Conor McGregor, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Bill Goldberg influenced his iconic tattoo. Upon his return at WrestleMania 38, Rhodes showcased a neck tattoo of a winged skull with a crown, designed in the colors of the American flag.

Rhodes trademarked the tattoo as 'American Nightmare' during his subsequent run in the All Elite Wrestling.' It has since become an iconic aspect of his personality. During a recent appearance on the 2 Bears, 1 Cave podcast hosted by Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer, Rhodes explained how the tattoos of McGregor, 'The Rock,' and Goldberg compelled him to think differently about his own brand.

Rhodes said that while he was away from the WWE, he aimed to establish his own bold and unique identity. Rhodes decided to get a tattoo on his chest, but watching McGregor motivated him to do something different:

"I saw Conor McGregor, who was just box office hit, marquee guy... He had the big lion on his chest... So I thought I can't do it on the chest."

He added:

"Then, I, of course, thought about The Rock, who's the biggest marquee guy and my current boss as well. And he's got the Brahma bull... So I can't do the arm. Goldberg, too, with the barbed wire... I thought, 'I'll do the neck.'"

When Conor McGregor responded to Cody Rhodes inviting him to the WWE

Conor McGregor has had online feuds with pro-wrestling celebrities such as Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman in the past. He was also involved in a social media altercation with former UFC heavyweight champion and pro-wrestling sensation Brock Lesnar at one point.

However, McGregor responded cordially to Rhodes, who invited the Irishman to try his hand at pro-wrestling. During an interaction with The Schmo, Rhodes suggested that McGregor could be successful if he transitioned to the WWE.

In response, McGregor posted a video of Rhodes and The Schmo drinking Proper No.12 Whiskey, a brand owned by the Irishman. He wrote in the caption:

"The Schmo and the undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes enjoying themselves some smooth @ProperWhiskey! CLASS PERSONIFIED! Love it Cody, see you soon."
