“You can’t control that outcome” - Jackie Buntan didn’t work herself up too much after Smilla Sundell defeat 

Jackie Buntan shared her wisdom while reflecting on her lone ONE Championship loss.

In February 2021, Buntan made an instant impact in her ONE Championship debut by defeating Wondergirl. Since then, the American superstar has solidified herself as one of the most dangerous female strawweight strikers on the planet.

Buntan's promotional tenure has primarily been successful, as she's established a 6-1 record in Muay Thai. With that said, the 27-year-old endured one loss against Smilla Sundall that she hopes to avenge in the near future.

During an interview with Sportskeeda, Buntan reflected on her loss against Sundell in April 2022 by saying:

"I don’t stress it too much, like I said, you can’t control life. You can’t control that outcome, you can only control how to get to that."

Jackie Buntan has bounced back from her loss against Smilla Sundell with three consecutive wins - Amber Kitchen (unanimous decision), Diandra Martin (first-round knockout), and Martine Michieletto (unanimous decision). The American superstar now looks to secure ONE gold in her next fight.

What's stopping rematch between Jackie Buntan and Smilla Sundell?

On November 8, Jackie Buntan will be featured in one of four world title fights taking place at ONE 169. Buntan's upcoming opponent is Anissa Meksen, a former 7x kickboxing, and Muay Thai champion looking to strengthen her resume with the vacant women's strawweight kickboxing world title.

If Buntan emerges victorious, she could secure a rematch against Smilla Sundell. There's only one thing stopping the matchup from happening.

In May, Sundell was stripped of her ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai world title because she missed weight. Buntan has claimed she's not interested in moving up to flyweight, so Sundell would need to remain at strawweight to make the rematch, which might not be possible.

Firstly, Buntan is focused on taking out the always dangerous Meksen. The vacant women's strawweight kickboxing world title matchup goes down inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
