Chael Sonnen claims UFC fans never cared about the rematch between Glover Teixeira and Jiri Prochazka, which was scheduled for UFC 282. While the matchup has now fallen through, 'The American Gangster' claims that we never cared about it in the first place.
According to Sonnen, the potential of a fight can be judged by the comments and views he garners on his YouTube channel while speaking about the matchup. The UFC veteran chided fans for sleeping on the matchup despite his multiple attempts to hype it up. The 45-year-old said on his YouTube channel:
"To tell the story accurately, I must start at the beginning, which is, you guys did not care about this fight... When I put out a topic about Prochazka vs. Glover, it is the biggest bomb that I have personally produced in my time over here at YouTube...When this thing tanked and none of you clicked on it to see it... I doubled down and I made another piece, it bombed."

Sonnen also views the first encounter between Prochazka and Teixeira as the greatest light heavyweight fight of all time as per entertainment value, a spot previously held by the UFC 165 clash between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson back in 2013. Sonnen added:
"Those two already met up. It goes down, in my mind, as the greastest light heavyweight fight of all time as far as entertainment goes."
Glover Teixeira weighs in on being left out of the light heavyweight title mix
The rematch between Jiri Prochazka and Glover Teixeira fell through after the champion suffered a serious shoulder injury and vacated the belt. The promotion has now put together a new title fight between Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalev, leaving Teixeira out of the mix.
The former champion claims to have agreed to fight both opponents. According to Glover Teixeira, he was ready to fight Blachowicz at UFC 282 in December but needed a little more time to prepare for Ankalaev, who's a southpaw. The 43-year-old offered to fight Ankalaev in Brazil in January but ended up being sidelined.
While Glover Teixeira believes the UFC messed up this time, he is not one to be ungrateful for all the good the promotion has done in the past. The former champion told MMA Fighting:
“I’m a happy and grateful man. You know that saying, you do 1,000 things for someone but becomes the worst man if you don’t do one thing? I won’t say that about the UFC, but they really messed up that day. I spent with a camp and now they took me away from the title fight. I agreed to fight both guys, the only thing I asked was more time to fight Ankalaev."
