“You just keep going” - Danielle Kelly prefers grappling in the Circle compared to the ring

Danielle Kelly ready to compete in the ONE Championship Circle.

American superstar Danielle Kelly has her own knacks on fighting inside the ONE Circle.

Although she has to enter the iconic Lumpinee Stadium ring at ONE Fight Night 24 for her first ever world title defense against Mayssa Bastos, the young phenom prefers to be inside the round cage than the squared circle.

This is because she could keep on hunting for submission everytime she goes into the ground within the cage, without having to worry about going out of bounds and being reset in the middle of the ring.

Speaking to Home of Fight in a recent interview ahead of her ONE atomweight submission grappling world championship on August 2, Kelly shared her views about the diffrerences and her own liking.

She said:

"I like both. But the ring, I mean the rules in the ring are kind of like different then the cage."

Kelly explained:

"The cage is pretty much, you know, you just keep going till either someone gets taken down or submitted or working submission. Whereas the ring, if you're like by the wall or by the ropes they can reset you, if you're either not in a submission or if you pull guard, they reset you."

Danielle Kelly studied Mayssa Bastos ahead of their world title match

Indeed, for Danielle Kelly, the terrain on which she performs is not the main issue.

She is more concerned on how Mayssa Bastos compete in their ONE atomweight submission grappling world championship at ONE Fight Night 24.

Kelly has been keeping herself busy in training camp ahead of their crucial match, and she said she's been studying her opponent well.

And that can play a major role in her performance, as she said in the same interview:

"I had an idea that I was going to go against her. She's been competing the whole time. So I'm just kind of studying her and just working on what I'm good at."

ONE Fight Night 24 is airing live in U.S. primetime free of charge for those with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription in North America.
