Jonathan Haggerty knows a thing or two about achieving greatness. As a multi-time world titleholder in ONE Championship, he has always needed to tap deep into his arsenal to unlock his fullest potential and accomplish his never-ending list of goals.

The Londoner appeared on the Winners Talking Podcast recently to share some tips and tricks needed for a fighter to pave their path to becoming a world champion.

Apart from the necessary trade inside the ring, the Knowlesy Academy and Team Underground star revealed that a world-class mental game goes hand-in-hand with the former. He said:

"So [to be a world champion] it takes a lot. It takes heart. That's one of the main things as well. You need heart to get in there cause, you know, you could be the best fighter in the world, but if you get it stuck on you, you crumble. It's not good. So you need heart, determination, grit, dedication, as well. All of that."

Jonathan Haggerty isn't all talk, he leads by example

Jonathan Haggerty's advice shouldn't fall on deaf ears. After all, 'The General' has been the underdog in a lot of his fights.

With the odds, oftentimes, stacked against him, the 27-year-old has always needed to tap into his determination and courage to give him the mental edge over his opponents.

For example, in his world title victories over Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and Nong-O Hama, the Londoner had his fair share of homework to do before he even stepped inside the ring.

And while many fans, including his dad, thought he stood no chance against Nong-O, Haggerty went on to defy the odds to start his second stint as a ONE world champion.

Though he went on to lose that strap to Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver, the English striker is ready to make amends when he hops back into action next.

Haggerty defends his ONE bantamweight kickboxing crown against 'Demon Blade' Wei Rui at ONE 171: Qatar on February 20, 2025.

The promotion's second spectacle inside the Lusail Sports Arena will also host Joshua Pacio and Jarred Brooks' trilogy match to unify the ONE strawweight MMA world title.
