Daniel Cormier recently weighed in on the upcoming lightweight title championship between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev.
'Do Bronx' is all set to lock horns with Makhachev in the main event of UFC 280 with the 155 lbs title on the line. The event is scheduled for October 22 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
The Dagestani holds a ten-fight winning streak going into the fight. Makhachev has often been compared to Khabib Nurmagomedov, given their close friendship and similar fighting styles. Charles Oliveira, on the other hand, is riding an eleven-fight win streak with one successful title defense.
Fans have been thrilled about the dream matchup ever since it was announced. Makhachev is a former combat sambo world champion, while Oliveira is one of the top jiu-jitsu fighters in the promotion.

Ahead of their fight at UFC 280, Daniel Cormier offered his thoughts on why the Oliveira vs Makhachev bout is going to be a "competitive fight," saying:
"The beauty in this fight is that we have seen Islam Makhachev dominate now, especially the last four fights where he's finishing guys. We have Charles Oliveira dominate 10 finishes, 11 wins in a row...We're getting it at the time right time, we're also getting at a time where you feel like Islam could lose and that is why the fight is so good."
'DC' continued:
"Because you very rarely thought that Khabib was going to lose. But you thought that maybe Conor could knock him out. So, the fight [UFC 229] was massive. This is what we got here with Islam and Charles Oliveira because Oliveira is the one guy that I think can actually win the fight."

Daniel Cormier points out factors Petr Yan should focus on ahead of Sean O'Malley fight
Daniel Cormier recently discussed the upcoming bantamweight fight at UFC 280 between Sean O'Malley and Petr Yan.
Cormier commented on the upcoming fight, claiming that Petr Yan's tendency to start slowly in his fights could land him in trouble against Sean O'Malley.
The UFC commentator said:
"One factor in this fight that Petr Yan really has to try to fix is he cannot start slow. He's traditionally a very slow starter. He cannot do that in this fight. He's got to go fast. He's got to try to overwhelm O'Malley early because, again, it [a fight against a top-tier UFC bantamweight] is just foreign to him [O'Malley] because O'Malley has not been in this situation before. O'Malley has not been to the top of the mountain as Petr Yan has."
