Second-ranked ONE Championship bantamweight Muay Thai contender and interim world title challenger 'King of the North' Nico Carrillo of Scotland was getting ready for the biggest fight of his life when he was booked opposite two-division, two-sport king 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9 late last year.
However, an injury to the double champ forced him out of the contest, and disappointed Carrillo greatly. That was, of course, until Thai-Algerian rising star Nabil Anane stepped in on short notice to take Superlek's place.
Now, Carrillo is ready to take on the No.5-ranked Anane for the ONE interim bantamweight Muay Thai world title this weekend.
Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Carrillo described the rollercoaster of emotions he felt after the Superlek showdown fell through.

'King of the North' said:
"It was difficult when I first got the call as I was a little bit down about it. But then you start looking for positives. Then I was matched with Nabil Anane. In life, you really need to always have a positive outlook. So I maintain mine. Whether the sun is shining, whether I'm happy, sad, or hungry, it doesn't matter."
Needless to say, Carrillo is ready for the biggest fight of his young career, and a victory over Anane this weekend will see his name etched in the pages of ONE Championship history.
