Anissa Meksen explained the difference between "good fighters" and "champions."
At 36 years old, Meksen holds a lifetime kickboxing/Muay Thai record of 103-6. 'C18' also won seven world titles between the two sports, making her the most experienced female striker in ONE Championship to never earn promotional gold.
On Friday, November 8, Meksen has a massive opportunity to solidify her first world title in ONE. The French-Algerian striker will face Muay Thai specialist Jackie Buntan for the inaugural women's strawweight kickboxing strap.
During an interview with the South China Morning Post, Meksen had this to say about what it takes to become a world champion:

"You know, when you train everyday, the motivation is good. But if you want to fight and keep the belt, you have to stay disciplined. That’s why there are a lot of good fighters and then there are champions. This is the difference between the two - motivation and staying disciplined and focused."

How is Anissa Meksen's legacy affected by a win against Jackie Buntan?
Anissa Meksen has let her presence be known with a 3-1 promotional record between kickboxing and Muay Thai. With that said, the 7x former world champion hasn't accomplished the ultimate goal of claiming ONE gold.
At ONE 169, Meksen has an opportunity to do two things. Firstly, she could solidify her legacy as one of the greatest female strikers of all time. Secondly, 'C18' could defeat the highly-respected Jackie Buntan, which would be the biggest win of her promotional tenure.
On the contrary, Buntan has her own dreams of becoming a world champion under the ONE banner. It'll be intriguing to see if the 27-year-old can overcome the experience disadvantage and emerge victorious in Bangkok, Thailand.
