Chael Sonnen believes that Conor McGregor made a smart move by exiting the USADA anti-doping pool.

In a recent episode of Beyond the Fight, the former UFC middleweight said that going by his Instagram account, the Irishman has been traveling a lot. In this scenario, according to Sonnen, it is best to opt out of the USADA pool and avoid being flagged for a whereabouts violation:

"It got revealed to us that Conor removed himself from the USADA testing pool, which was very wise... I mean, I don't even know what Conor McGregor's up to and I could tell you five different countries he's been in the last month just from his Instagram alone and you don't wanna get hit on a whereabouts violation just because you're trying to do a job or you've got other commitments."

Sonnen also believes that after re-entering the USADA pool, the Irishman will not have to wait for six months in order to step foot inside the octagon again.

MMA journalist Aaron Bronsteter recently broke the news that Conor McGregor was the lone fighter in the UFC to not be tested by USADA even once in 2022.

UFC president Dana White later came out and confirmed that McGregor had opted out of the USADA testing pool.

What is Conor McGregor up to these days?

Conor McGregor is currently shooting for a remake of the 80's cult classic 'Road House'. The film will feature Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhall in the lead role. The Irishman has been regularly posting behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the movie-shoot to his Instagram account.

Many started wondering if the Irishman's venture into Hollywood would halt his MMA career. After the announcement of McGregor's Hollywood debut, his team had released a statement saying that MMA remained 'Mystic Mac's' prime focus:

“Conor McGregor is very excited to expand his storied career to Hollywood and join Jake Gyllenhaal in this reimagining of 'Road House', a beloved classic. While fighting remains his top focus, this is the beginning of another successful venture in the McGregor empire. He is eager to get started filming."
