Mica Galvao has been suspended by USADA after testing positive for banned substances.

Galvao is the youngest-ever International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation champion and won the competition last year. However, it was recently announced that he tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolite 4-hydroxyclomiphene. As announced by IBJJF and USADA, the 19-year-old will have to serve a one-year suspension before being allowed to compete again.

Mica Galvao has also been stripped of his 2022 world title and his opponent Ruotolo will most likely be named the 2022 world champion. Following the ban, Galvao took to Instagram to release a statement where he suggested that he was prescribed the substance by a physician. He stated:

"You all already know the news and I want to explain my version now. My doctor used a substance prohibited by Usada in my treatment. My father and I have always tried to approach the best professionals to help my career and, unfortunately, this mistake happened and I accept it."

While further suggesting that his journey is far from over, the 19-year-old said:

"I'm going to start from scratch again, it's never been easy for me and it won't be. I come from Manaus, where opportunities are few. I fought a lot to get where I am. I don't mind tracing that path to the top again, my journey doesn't end here, it's just begun. You will see me many times on the mat in 2023."

Is UFC superstar Conor McGregor serving a USADA ban?

No, former UFC champion Conor McGregor is not serving a USADA ban. 'The Notorious One' has not fought since 2021 due to the horrific leg injury he suffered at UFC 264.

However, Conor McGregor is set to return to the octagon later this year against Michael Chandler. A date for the same is yet to be announced by the UFC. While McGregor is not serving any bans, it is worth noting that he needs to be in the testing pool for at least six months before competing in the octagon.

Moreover, as of March 30, 2023, Conor McGregor did not send in any samples to USADA for testing, which means fans will have to wait at least six months from now to see 'The Notorious One' back in action inside the octagon.
