Flyweight contender Yuya Wakamatsu was able to extend his winning streak at ONE Fight Night 26 after getting his hand raised via unanimous decision.
The flyweight division is in a time of opportunity right now when you look at the layout at the very top of the weight class. Following Demetrious Johnson's retirement at ONE 168: Denver in September, the division is currently without a world champion.
By beating debuting Gilbert Nakatani on Dec. 6, Wakamatsu has certainly put himself in the mix considering his current three fight winning streak.
If there's one name that he's currently chasing, it's the former divisional king Adriano Moraes, who also earned a recent victory at ONE 169 where he submitted Danny Kingad last month.

The two men have fought before at ONE X in 2022 where Moraes racked up another submission victory to defend his gold.
Though getting revenge over the Brazilian is his key focus, there are other options for No. 2-ranked Wakamatsu if this fight doesn't materialize for him.
In a post-event interview with ONE Championship, the Japanese contender said that he'd be open to facing another top name at flyweight who also recorded a victory on Dec. 6 at Lumpinee Stadium:
"I want to fight [Reece] McLaren who won against Jarred Brooks."
Yuya Wakamatsu is in the mix with Adriano Moraes and Reece McLaren
Yuya Wakamatsu may have not been over the moon with his performance at ONE Fight Night 26 but he did his job.
'Little Piranha' got his hand raised after hurting Gilbert Nakatani multiple times in the fight and though he was unable to get the finish, it was still an important win for him.
There's no denying that he's in the mix with Adriano Moraes and Reece McLaren right now after all three men made statements in their recent fights.
We will find out how this division will play out in the new year.
