Former ONE welterweight world champion Zebaztian Kadestam has a huge fight on the horizon for May 5. At ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, the Swede will take on Croatia’s Roberto Soldic.

The fight alone is enough to get fans excited, but what adds another level of hype to this fight is that it will take place in front of an American crowd. ONE Fight Night 10 will be the promotion’s first-ever event in the United States, live from the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

The card is already stacked with some of the biggest names on the promotion’s roster and the addition of Roberto Soldic is another huge draw for the event.

Soldic has been unable to showcase his skills to ONE Championship fans after his high-profile signing last year. His first appearance inside the circle ended in a no contest in the first round due to a groin strike. He will be hoping to put on a show when he faces the former world champion.

Whilst Zebaztian Kadestam is excited for the opportunity to face an opponent like Soldic, the location of the fight is also a factor for him. In a recent interview with the promotion, he said:

“I’ve never fought in America. I’ve never even been to America. This is going to be really cool. I’ve been wanting to go to America for a long time.”

“He’s a good fighter” - Zebaztian Kadestam believes Roberto Soldic is the real deal

Back when Roberto Soldic was announced to have signed with ONE Championship, Zebaztian Kadestam threw his name into the mix as a potential opponent for the Croatian fighter.

Appearing on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani in August, the former two-division KSW champion revealed that he had chosen to sign with ONE after entertaining several offers.

The conversation between fans immediately turned to who Soldic could potentially face inside the circle, and Kadestam was a very viable option after securing back-to-back first-round knockouts.

Whilst he didn’t get the fight initially, the former world champion now has the opportunity that he was going for. Back at ONE on Prime Video 1, fresh off of defeating Iuri Lapicus, Kadestam said:

“I also heard they have just signed a monster. I love fighting monsters. Roberto Soldic, let’s go!”

In a subsequent interview with the South China Morning Post, Kadestam gave some more in depth thoughts on ONE’s high-profile signing:

“Man, I know he’s winning a lot of fights and he’s doing a good job, so I’m not one to say that he’s a hype train. No, he’s a good fighter. But I believe that I can beat him, and that’s like an extra bonus that he has a lot of hype.”
