At ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video, Zhang Peimian returned to the win column by rebounding from his last loss. With a unanimous decision victory, ‘Fighting Rooster’ showed his class against debuting Russian striker Torepchi Dongak.
After getting his hand raised at the end of the fight and receiving a performance bonus from ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong, the 19-year-old had one goal clearly in mind.
After losing to Jonathan Di Bella at ONE 162 in October, Peimian wants to run that fight back with the ONE strawweight kickboxing world champion. It remains his only loss under the ONE Championship banner and was a closely contested world championship matchup between the two strawweights.
Coming right down to the wire, the fight's result was swayed in the final round when Peimian was dropped by a head kick, costing him the vacant ONE strawweight kickboxing world championship.

Following his victory over Dongak at the weekend, Peimian made his intentions clear during his post-fight interview, laying out the potential timeline for the highly anticipated rematch:
“This could be in the middle of this year or at the end of the year. I am ready.”
Zhang Peimian says he fights for family and will give away entire $50,000 bonus
China’s Zhang Peimian has proven each and every time that he steps inside the circle that he is one of the most exciting strikers on ONE Championship’s roster.
Through four fights under the ONE banner since debuting in 2022, ‘Fighting Rooster’ has picked up three emphatic wins, with his one loss being a fight of the year contender against Jonathan Di Bella that came right down to the final moments of the fight.
At ONE Fight Night 8, he returned to the circle with a win, defeating Russia's Torepchi Dongak on his promotional debut. With his ruthless combinations and frightening speed, Peimian kept his opponent guessing and on the defensive with the fight slipping away from him.
With his unanimous decision victory, the 19-year-old also received a reward for his incredibly exciting and aggressive style. In his post-fight interview, Peimian was awarded a performance bonus from ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
In his interview, Zhang said that he is incredibly grateful for the added reward but will not be using it to benefit himself:
“I fight for my family, so I will give it to my family. And that's why I'm here. I'm here to give back to my family.”
