Zhang Peimian returned at ONE Fight Night 8 with a big win

Chinese kickboxer Zhang Peimian has proven himself to be one of the most exciting strikers on ONE Championship’s roster since making his promotional debut in 2022.

At ONE Fight Night 8, he returned to the win column by rebounding from his first loss inside the circle with a dominant win. Taking on Russia's Torepchi Dongak, ‘Fighting Rooster’ proved to be way too much for the debutant on the night.

His lightning fast combinations and aggression kept his opponent fighting off the back foot with not many opportunities to put his stamp on the fight's pace.

Following the end of the fight, Peimian got his hand raised with a unanimous decision verdict. In his post-fight interview inside the circle, he was awarded a performance bonus from ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

After the announcement, Zhang revealed that everything he does is not for his own personal gain, including winning bonuses thanks to his exciting style:

“I fight for my family, so I will give it to my family. And that's why I'm here. I'm here to give back to my family.”

Zhang Peimian targets Jonathan Di Bella rematch

At ONE Fight Night 8: Superlek vs. Williams this past weekend, Zhang Peimian rebounded from his first loss inside the circle by defeating Russia’s Torepchi Dongak.

With a dominant display against the debutant, Peimian got his opportunity on the mic to call his shot for what he wants next in his career.

At ONE 162 in October last year, Zhang faced Canadian-Italian contender Jonathan Di Bella for the vacant strawweight kickboxing world championship. As they produced one of the best fights of the year, Zhang’s aggression and lightning fast combinations seemed to be giving him an edge in the fight.

Just moments away from the end of the contest where he would seemingly be crowned as the world champion, Zhang was dropped by a head kick that cost him the round and the overall contest.

With Di Bella yet to make a title defense, ‘Fighting Rooster’ is keen to run the fight back as he seeks revenge and the strawweight kickboxing world championship.

In his post-fight interview inside the Circle, Zhang Peimian had one message for Di Bella and the ONE Championship fans watching on:

“The more I fight, the braver I become. I want to challenge Jonathan Di Bella. I want to get the belt.”
