ONE Championship recently shared highlights of Zhang Peimian’s promotional debut win against Josh Tonna.

On March 22, 2022, Zhang made his ONE debut with a Muay Thai/kickboxing record of 14-1-1. The Chinese phenom was hoping to become one of the youngest champions in promotional history, and was quickly given validity against Tonna. ‘Fighting Rooster’ broke down his opponent and secured a third-round finish.

ONE recently re-surfaced the impressive performance by Zhang in an Instagram post that was captioned:

“Shut down 😱 Zhang Peimian welcomes Torepchi Dongak to the global stage at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video! Will we see another dominant display from "Fighting Rooster?"”

After defeating Tonna, Zhang returned to the Circle in July 2022, defeating Aslanbek Zikreev by unanimous decision. With two promotional wins under his belt, ‘Fighting Rooster’ earned an opportunity to win the inaugural strawweight kickboxing world championship against Jonathan Di Bella.

Zhang showcased a valiant effort, but Di Bella emerged victorious with a unanimous decision at ONE 162 in October 2022. Five months after losing to the Canadian-Italian, ‘Fighting Rooster’ will make his fourth appearance in the Circle at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video.

Zhang Peimian predicts a knockout in his upcoming fight

Zhang Peimian has been matched up against promotional newcomer Torepchi Dongak for ONE Fight Night 8. Dongak is somewhat of a mystery due to a lack of footage, but Zhang is prepared to defeat anyone put in front of him.

During an interview with ONE Championship, the 19-year-old had this to say about his upcoming matchup:

“I think it won’t be long. In fact, after the first combo we throw, I’ll know exactly how quickly I can finish it. But no matter what, I think it’s going to be a KO, and probably in the second or third round.”

Along with Zhang vs. Dongak, ONE Fight Night 8 features two world championship fights on March 24 - Superlek Kiatmoo9 vs. Danial Williams for the flyweight kickboxing world title and Allycia Hellen Rodrigues vs. Janet Todd for the atomweight Muay Thai world title. The event can be seen live and for free by North American Prime Video subscribers.
