Let’s have a look at how the four winners of the $50,000 performance bonus made their money.
#3. Tagir Khalilov (flyweight Muay Thai)
After back-to-back setbacks to begin his promotional career, Tagir Khalilov wanted to ensure he got his hand raised this time. Apart from finally getting that elusive victory, ‘Samingpri’ also got the ball rolling by collecting the first bonus of the evening.
The Russian heavy hitter put on a striking clinic against Chorfah Tor.Sangtiennoi and threw everything he had but the kitchen sink once the bell rang.
The Thai had no idea what hit him and was left disoriented by Khalilov’s whirlwind of wicked strikes. With under a minute left in the round, ‘Samingpri’ inflicted more punishment and landed a gorgeous uppercut that sent his opponent tumbling to the canvas.
He followed that up with a kick to the face as his opponent came crashing down.
#2. Jhanlo Mar Sangiao (catchweight 156.25 lbs)
Jhanlo Mark Sangiao’s sudden change of opponent did not deter his mission to put on a show in front of the roaring Mall of Asia Arena crowd.
‘The Machine’ followed up his stunning debut with an even more spectacular sophomore showing against Anacleto Lauron.
Sangiao, the son and namesake of Team Lakay’s legendary coach Mark Sangiao, did not waste time and put Lauron on his back with a powerful slam that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
After raining down hellfire with crushing punches and elbows, the 20-year-old took Lauron’s back and squeezed his life out with a rear-naked choke.
‘Tenacity’ had no choice but to tap, giving Sangiao another highlight-worthy finish.
Sangiao, the youngest member of the Baguio-based team, also became the first Team Lakay representative to collect a $50,000 bonus.
#1. Jeremy Pacatiw (ONE bantamweight MMA)
Who says Team Lakay has no ground game?
Jeremy Pacatiw put those doubts to rest as he followed Jhanlo Mark Sangiao and pulled off an amazing submission of his own.
‘The Juggernaut’ figured in arguably the most entertaining bout of the card against an equally game, Tial Thang. The pair of heavy hitters traded leather from the get-go as they tested each other’s chin with violent haymakers.
The Team Lakay stalwart was getting the better of the exchanges from distance, while the Burmese fighter scored some points in the clinch. ‘The Dragon Leg’ thought he had the upper hand when he took down Pacatiw in round two.
That turned out to be his fatal mistake, as the Wushu specialist caught him in a tight triangle choke.
Tial tried to defend but Pacatiw showcased improved jiu-jitsu and adjusted his submission, leaving the Kill Cliff FC fighter no choice but to tap.
‘The Juggernaut’, who just got married earlier this year, received the best wedding gift from the promotion's Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong who gave him $50,000 for that beautiful grappling display.
