#3. Liam Harrison shares how Muay Thai saved him from a life in jail or on the streets
Liam Harrison wouldn’t have been where he is today if not for Muay Thai.
The British striking star shared a clip on his YouTube page detailing how 'The Art of the Eight Limbs' practically saved him from living off the streets or even jail.
Harrison, who’s since become one of the most influential British fighters of all time, said:
“Obviously, I've grown up in a rough area where honestly not many people make it out. A lot of my friends have ended up in jail. While they were out in the streets getting up to all sorts I was in the gym.”
As he continued training, Harrison collected titles under the WBC and WMC banners. ‘The Hitman’ would then make his way to ONE Championship where he even challenged Nong-O Hama for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title.
He continued:
“In the gym at 13, 14. Then at 15, I started to get really serious with my training ... And that's when most of my friends- some were like getting sent off to jail and they're on the brink of either going one way or the other. I totally left all that."
#2. Roberto Soldic draws former champ Zebaztian Kadestam in redo of ONE debut
Roberto Soldic’s ONE Championship debut back in December 2022 didn’t plan out the way he intended to. The Croatian sensation had his first fight cut short after he suffered an accidental low blow from Murad Ramazanov, forcing the match into a no contest.
‘Robocop’, though, will have his second match at ONE Championship's landmark event in the United States.
The former two-division KSW champion will face Zebaztian Kadestam, a former ONE welterweight world champion, at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video in Colorado.
The promotion announced on Instagram:
“'ROBOCOP' RETURNS 🚨 Another barnburner has been added to ONE Fight Night 10 🇺🇸 as Croatian superstar Roberto Soldic takes on former ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian Kadestam in Colorado!”
ONE Fight Night 10 is set for May 5 at 1stBank Center and will be ONE Championship’s first on-site card in the United States. The entire card is available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
#1. Respect earned: Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker bury the hatchet in hospital
Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker had one of the most heated rivalries when they contended for the vacant ONE bantamweight world title. Despite the animosity they shared, the two Brazilian stars seem to have a newfound respect for each other after ONE Fight Night 7.
The two battered each other for 20 minutes but it was Andrade who claimed the gold after Lineker’s corner decided to call for a stop to the contest.
After the bout, Lineker and Andrade shared an emotional moment inside the ring at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. Lineker’s manager Alex Davis also shared on Twitter that the two fighters met at the hospital once more to truly bury their rivalry.
"Some criticism about having stopped Lineker x Andrade. It was a hard [decision] to do, especially it being a title fight. Both johns eyes were closed, I had to take that dec. Safety comes first. Congrats to both men & to Fabricio for winning the title! Oss!"
