#3. Superlek willing to face any opponent as the new ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion
It didn’t take long for Superlek Kiatmoo9 to issue an open challenge for his ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship
Mere minutes after he defeated Daniel Puertas for the vacant strap, Superlek told Mitch Chilson during his post-fight interview that he’s ready for anyone who wants to take a shot at his world title:
“I’ve never been careless towards any of my opponents ever, so I was confident. I am not protective of this belt. Whoever wants to take this, come and take this from me.”
Superlek beat Puertas via unanimous decision after a tense back-and-forth at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video this past weekend at Bangkok’s Impact Arena.
The two strikers went at it during their five-round fight but it was Superlek who landed the harder shots. The Thai star went berserk in the third and pinned Puertas against the cage for much of the round with his wild and looping combinations.
#2. Angela Lee thanks ONE Championship for ‘beautiful’ tribute to sister Victoria Lee
The sporting world lost one of its brightest young stars this past year after Victoria Lee tragically passed away in December.
Fighters, combat sports organizations, media outlets, and fans all paid tribute to the 18-year-old. ONE Championship, more so, held a special moment and showed a video package dedicated to Lee during ONE Fight Night 6.
The touching video touched the hearts of those who watched Lee’s growth as a mixed martial artist, especially her older sister Angela.
The eldest of the Lee siblings posted the video on her Instagram page and thanked ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong and the rest of the promotion for the heartfelt gesture:
“I miss you so much sis 🤍 Thank you @onechampionship and @yodchatri for this beautiful tribute video honoring Victoria. This video is just a short clip of the beautiful, brilliant, kind, and hardworking person Victoria was. She was down to earth, with unshakable determination and a heart of gold.”
Lee was only 16 years old when she made her ONE Championship debut at ONE: Fists of Fury in February 2021. She then amassed a perfect 3-0 record with all three of her wins coming via finish.
#1. Mikey Musumeci still open to grappling with MMA legend Demetrious Johnson
Mikey Musumeci has done it all in the world of submission grappling, and he has once again set his sights on an icon in the world of mixed martial arts.
The reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion looks unstoppable in ONE Championship’s submission grappling scene, and he reiterated his desire to take on ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson.
Musumeci came off a dominant unanimous decision win over Gantumur Bayanduuren at ONE Fight Night 6, and he immediately stressed his desire to fight Johnson in a submission grappling match.
“Oh, yeah, totally. It would be an honor to step in the Circle with that legend. It would be an honor. But whoever ONE has in store for me, I'm ready for, you know. Let's see who they want me to compete with, you know,” Musumeci told Mitch Chilson during his post-fight interview.
Coincidentally, Johnson was working at the commentators’ booth during the event.
