#3. Liam Harrison shares why he won’t ever transition to MMA
It’s not uncommon for combat sports athletes to transition from one discipline into mixed martial arts. Though it’s already become the norm in today’s landscape, the career change isn’t something Liam Harrison is keen on doing.
Harrison is one of the best Muay Thai artists out of Great Britain, with the Leeds native holding 90 professional wins as well as three world titles under his belt.
Despite his accolades in Muay Thai, a discipline that’s instrumental in MMA, Harrison said that he’ll never jump into the multi-faceted sport.
In a video clip he posted on his Instagram account, ‘Hitman’ said:
“I wouldn’t ever go into MMA. I’m not arrogant enough to think that my style would be perfect for MMA.”
Harrison is ranked No.4 in ONE Championship’s bantamweight Muay Thai rankings and challenged Nong-O Hama for the division’s world title in August 2022.
#2. Sage Northcutt lets fans know what to look forward to in ONE Championship’s arrival in the US
ONE Championship has certainly become a global phenomenon in the past several years, but American fans have yet to see firsthand just how explosive the promotion is.
Luckily for them, Sage Northcutt laid out what American fans can expect when the organization stages its first on-site live event in the United States on May 5.
ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video takes place at 1stBank Center in Colorado. The 11-fight card is chock-full of electrifying matches from MMA, Muay Thai, and submission grappling.
In a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything event, Northcutt said that fans can expect an unrelenting pace during matches as well as a diverse offering of combat sports.
“I think it can be if you’re prepared for it! ONE has a huge roster of so many talented world champs! ONE also gives you a warning for stalling and takes away pay so they have a higher finishing rate than any other league.”
‘Super’ Sage added:
“I think ONE is super unique with MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and Submission Grappling! They have very diverse talented athletes.”
Northcutt is part of the stacked ONE Fight Night 10 card and he takes on Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba in a lightweight contest. The entire card will be available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
#1. Roberto Soldic says he still wants to fight Murad Ramazanov
Roberto Soldic didn’t have the debut he envisioned with ONE Championship.
The Croatian sensation faced Murad Ramazanov at ONE on Prime Video 5 in his first fight for the promotion back in December 2022. That match, however, ended abruptly when a wayward knee struck Soldic flush on the groin, causing a no contest.
A few months after that setback, Soldic revealed that a match against Ramazanov is one of the things he still wants to do in ONE Championship.
Soldic told the promotion in an interview:
“Of course, I [would like a rematch with Ramazanov]. But, after my debut fight, the matchmaker came inside the room and said, ‘We have other plans for you.’ They put me in America, so I’m going to fight. What can I do? I cannot wait.”
That match, though, might have to wait since Soldic will take on former ONE welterweight world champion Zebaztian Kadestam at ONE Fight Night 10 in Colorado.
