#3. Martin Nguyen gets replacement opponent at ONE Fight Night 7 on short notice
Former two-division world champion Martin Nguyen is moving from one undefeated opponent to another.
Nguyen, the No.3 featherweight contender, was supposed to take on Shamil Gasanov at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video. ‘The Situ-Asian’ will now take on undefeated Kyrgyz prospect Razhab Shaydullaev on February 24 at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.
Gasanov, who has a 13-0 record and is the No.5 featherweight contender, had to pull out of the card due to an infection stemming from an injury he sustained during training camp.
Shaydullaev, though, is no walk in the park for Nguyen.
The 22-year-old is 9-0 in his career and is fully capable of either knocking out or submitting his opponents.
Nguyen, a former ONE featherweight and lightweight world champion, will surely be in for a test against Shaydullaev, but a win for him could push his name up the 155-pound rankings.
ONE Fight Night 7, just like all of ONE Championship's Amazon cards, will be available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
#2. Anatoly Malykhin says there’s only one way the Fabricio Andrade vs. John Lineker rematch ends
Anatoly Malykhin, the reigning ONE light heavyweight and interim heavyweight world champion, knows a thing or two about knocking people out.
He believes that his close friend Fabricio Andrade will turn the lights out of John Lineker’s head at ONE Fight Night 7 and claim the vacant ONE bantamweight world title.
The Russian knockout machine recently spoke with ONE Championship on how Andrade’s world title rematch against Lineker will play out.
He said:
“There can be only one end to this fight – a knockout. I think Fabricio will win, and he will finish Lineker before the fourth round.”
Malykhin is one of the best fighters in the world right now, holding a perfect 4-0 record in ONE Championship with all four of his fights ending in highlight-reel knockouts.
#1. John Lineker reveals where he developed his world-ending knockout power
ONE Championship has always been the home of the best knockout artists on the planet, but few have the fearsome reputation that John Lineker holds.
The Brazilian star is one of the most aggressive headhunters in the world and his wild style of fighting has been the stuff of his opponent’s nightmares.
Nicknamed ‘Hands of Stone’, Lineker revealed in an interview what he thinks the origin is of his tremendous power:
“I worked a lot as a bricklayer’s helper, so I hit a lot of dough and carried a lot of weight. I think this strength has been developing since I was a kid.”
Lineker, a former ONE bantamweight world champion, holds a perfect 4-0 record in ONE Championship with his last three wins all coming via knockout. The 32-year-old holds KO wins over former ONE bantamweight world champions Bibiano Fernandes and Kevin Belingon, as well as over Troy Worthen.
Lineker can put his hands to the test once again when he faces Fabricio Andrade in a world title rematch in the main event of ONE Fight Night 7 on February 24 at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.
