Alex Pereira has suffered just a single defeat in his seven-fight MMA career. With a professional record of 6-1, it's nothing short of remarkable that Pereira is fighting for a UFC world title at this stage of his career. 'Poatan' has fought three times in the UFC, and won by knockout twice.

Interestingly, Pereira was on the losing side of his first-ever professional MMA bout when he lost via rear-naked choke at Jungle Fight 82 in 2015. His opponent for that fight, Quemuel Ottoni, was able to outstrike 'Poatan' before submitting him in footage that needs to be seen to be believed.

Ottoni has now signed for major MMA promotion Professional Fighters League (PFL). MMA journalist Raphael Marinho broke the news on Friday:

"The only fighter to have already beaten Alex 'Poatan' Pereira in MMA, Quemuel Ottoni, signed a four-fight contract with the PFL to compete next season." [Translated from Portuguese by Google]

Dominick Reyes predicts his teammate Alex Pereira will knock Israel Adesanya out

Alex Pereira is a week away from the biggest fight of his MMA career when he faces Israel Adesanya in the main event of UFC 281.

Pereira's nickname is 'Poatan', which translates to 'Hands of Stone'. The nickname was given to the Brazilian due to his power. The knockout of Thomas Powell at LFA 95 is a prime example of the danger that 'Poatan' possesses.

Current UFC light heavyweight and training partner of Alex Pereira, Dominick Reyes, was recently interviewed by 'The Schmo'.

The MMA journalist asked Reyes to elaborate on the power of 'Poatan' as well as give his prediction for the UFC 281 main event. 'The Devastator' said this:

"Hands of Stone. He hits very hard, and it's crazy how controlled and calm he is at all times... I think Alex is gonna knock him [Adesanya] out. He's gonna knock him out. Unless Izzy runs around and point fights like he's been doing. Even then, Alex is gonna finish him off."

Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya have faced one another twice in professional kickboxing. 'Poatan' walked away victorious on both occasions, first by decision and then by knockout.

The Brazilian will be looking to make it three in a row when the pair face off next weekend in one of the most anticipated fights of 2022.
