Four-time Muay Thai world champion Petchtanong Petchfergus steps back into the circle for the first time in over a year at ONE 163 this Saturday. With an incredible 357 career victories to his credit, Petchtanong will attempt to parlay that experience into a ONE world championship when he meets reigning ONE bantamweight kickboxing champion Hiroki Akimoto.
Ahead of the massive kickboxing world title fight, Petchtanong sat down with ONE Championship to discuss his preparations for the world title showdown. During the interview, the Muay Thai icon revealed that he has been working with another elite kickboxer, Superbon Singha Mawynn:
“I came to train in Krabi province to find different sparring partners. There, I have Superbon as my sparring partner. He helps me a lot with techniques and game plan.”
When it comes to training partners, there are few better than Superbon. Undefeated inside the circle, the two-time ONE featherweight kickboxing titleholder has a big matchup of his own lined up in December for ONE on Prime Video 5 when he meets No.1-ranked featherweight contender Chingiz Allazov.

Petchtanong Petchfergus eager to prove he can still compete with the best in the world
Petchtanong Petchfergus has had an incredible combat sports career. With more than 400 career fights under his belt, the Thai superstar has nothing left to prove. However, he is eager to show the world that even at 37 years old, he is still as dangerous as ever:
“I actually planned to retire for a while, but when I lost to Capitan, I became more motivated and wanted to get redemption. I was determined to come back stronger. I want to prove to everyone that I still have great potential even when I’m 37 already.”
He’ll get a chance to show it against Japanese kickboxing world champion Hiroki Akimoto this Saturday as part of the stacked ONE 163 card.
Hiroki Akimoto will be one of the many Japanese representatives competing at ONE 163 on Saturday. Others include MMA legend Yushin ‘Thunder’ Okami who will take on former two-division ONE world champion Aung La N Sang. Also scheduled for the event is fast-rising atomweight Itsuki Hirata. ‘Android 18’ will face the toughest test of her career when she meets No.2-ranked Ham Seo Hee.
